Pavel Filatov was born 1976 in Voronezn, Central Russia. He grew up in Czech Republic, Latvia and the Altai Mountain Foothills. In the wintertime Pavel lives near the Altai Mountains in Barnaul, the fourth biggest city in Siberia . During the rest of the year he travels or resides in a small mountain village called Krasnogorsk in the Altai foothills. His interest for photography began when at the age of 16 he borrowed his father's FED-Soviet range-finder camera.
Images from Pavel's collection have been used in a wide variety of publications including books, calendars, posters, and magazines.
The images on the site were taken using Nikon F5 and F100 and Hasselblad 501CM and Xpan II cameras. Nikkor, Carl Zeiss and Fuji lenses, ranging from 15mm to 1000mm with converter, have been used.
